Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information CultYourself ("we", "us", "the site") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. CultYourself is an independent, non-commercial project without a separate registered legal entity behind it.
Information we collect
Account information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored encrypted, never in plain text). You can add a profile photo and links to your CultMyself profile.
Activity data
If you save or favorite an event, artist, or show, or mark your attendance ("going", "maybe", "not going"), we store that against your account so it can be shown back to you on your profile and used to personalize features such as Spotify playlist generation.
Comments and contributions
Comments you post are stored together with your account and are visible to other visitors unless removed by moderators.
Technical and log data
Like most websites, our servers automatically log technical information for security and troubleshooting purposes, including IP address, browser/user agent, and the pages you request. Certain administrative actions are also recorded in an internal audit log for accountability.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your language preference. If Google Analytics is enabled on this site, it may set additional cookies to help us understand how the site is used; you can opt out using your browser's tracking settings or a browser extension.
Third-party services
If you choose to connect your Spotify account, we use Spotify's authentication to create playlists on your behalf based on the artists playing at shows you've marked as attending. We only request the access needed for that feature, and you can disconnect Spotify access at any time from your Spotify account settings.
Some artist and event pages embed content from third-party platforms (such as Spotify, SoundCloud, or Bandcamp). Interacting with these embeds may be subject to that platform's own privacy policy and cookies.
How we use your information
We use your information to operate and improve the site, show you the events and artists you care about, personalize features like attendance tracking and playlists, moderate content, and keep the platform secure. We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, or ask us to remove your data through our contact form, we will remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we are required to keep records for legal reasons.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us through our contact form. If you are in the European Economic Area, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the date below when we do.
